Meredith Hughes was a Program Associate with New America's Health Policy Program until December 2010, when she left for a position with the Bipartisan Policy Center. While at New America, Ms. Hughes wrote for the Health Policy blog, the New Health Dialogue, and assisted program leadership in event coordination, communication and research

Ms. Hughes is a cum laude graduate of the American University Honors Program with degrees in political science and philosophy and a certificate in leadership studies. She wrote her senior honors thesis on President Clinton's early nineties efforts to reform the health care system. Before joining the New America Foundation, Ms. Hughes had internships in the field of health care policy and communications at the DC press office of Senator Robert Casey, Jr. (D-PA) and the Jewish Healthcare Foundation in Pittsburgh.
