Until mid-2011, Micah Weinberg was Senior Research Fellow in the Health Policy Program at the New America Foundation. Micah left New America to head up health policy at the Bay Area Council. At New America, he worked closely with policymakers in California and Washington, DC to develop and implement strategies to control the growth of healthcare costs while expanding access and improving health outcomes. Dr. Weinberg has spent his career at the nexus of applied research, practical politics, and policy creation. Since 2001, he has been the President of Weinberg Civic Strategies, producing research and recommendations that have guided the policy and investment decisions of many state, county and local governments and nonprofit organizations in the areas of community development and human services. This work built on his role as Vice President of Wilhelm and Conlon Public Strategies, a firm he started with David Wilhelm, former Chair of the Democratic National Committee. At Wilhelm and Conlon, Dr. Weinberg was part of the team that created Adena Ventures, the nation's first New Market Venture Capital Company. He is also an experienced political speechwriter, having written public addresses for national political leaders and congressional candidates.
He holds a doctoral degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with honors from Princeton University with a degree in Politics.
