U.S. Cuba Policy: Ending 50 Years of Failure

On Dec. 11, 2007, Col. Lawrence B. Wilkerson, USA (Ret), Co-Chair of the U.S.-Cuba 21st Century Policy Initiative, testified before the U.S. Senate Finance Committee. In his opening remarks, Wilkerson stated:

Thank you, Chairman Baucus, Ranking Minority Member Grassley and members of the committee, for the opportunity to testify today on U.S. policy with respect to Cuba.

For almost half a century, U.S. policy with respect to Cuba has failed -- miserably.

Petition Asking FCC to Declare Text Messaging Subject to Non-Discrimination Rules

December 11, 2007

The New America Foundation's Wireless Future Program, as part of a broader public interest coalition, on Dec. 11 filed a petition urging the Federal Communications Commission to issue a declaratory ruling stating that "Text Messaging and Short Codes are Title II Services or are Title I Services Subject to Section 202 Nondiscrimination Rules."
