A number of economists at an event sponsored by the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a group of federal budget hawks, said a second stimulus is in the offing.
"I think we'll get a stimulus package, whether it's spending or tax cuts," said Tim Adams, a former Treasury undersecretary for international affairs. "I think there is certainly a need for spending on infrastructure."
Dean Baker, co-director of the left-leaning Center for Economic and Policy Research, called for a "green stimulus."
