On March 1, 2011, the Early Education Initiative hosted a journalism seminar, where a new policy report,"Getting in Sync: Revamping Licensure and Preparation for Teachers in Pre-K, Kindergarten and the Early Grades," was released. The report shows that today's licensing and preparation systems are not set up to ensure teachers in pre-kindergarten through the third grades are well-prepared to work with young children.

Laura Bornfreund, a policy analyst for the Early Education Initiative, presented key findings about problems nationwide as well as recommendations for improvement. Her presentation slides can be downloaded from the right, under 'Related Files.'
