On January 25, 2010, Christina Satkowski gave a presentation at the National Head Start Leadership Institute for a panel titled, “The Status of State Advisory Councils for Early Care and Education.”

These powerpoint slides provide an update to the November 2009 policy paper, The Next Step in Systems-Building, which showcases the results of an informal, 50-state survey on which states have taken steps to establish councils (mandated by the reauthorization of the 2007 Head Start law), who will sit on these councils, and what they aim to do.
