Bush Budget: District-by-District Funding
Each year, the New America Foundation prepares the first and exceptionally early estimates of district-by-district federal education funding for major formula grant programs. By using the map below, local school officials can access estimates of federal education funding to their districts for the 2009-2010 academic year based on the President’s Fiscal Year 2009 budget request. These estimates are presented side-by-side with prior year allocations.
Local officials should not rely on the specific figures presented, but instead view our estimates as a reflection of trends in local federal education financing. New America Foundation estimates for the 2009-2010 academic year are based on information from the U.S. Department of Education, Congressional Research Service, and 50 State Departments of Education and the District of Columbia’s Education Department.
A new feature of the Federal Education Budget Project allows visitors to compare their school districts and states to other similar districts and states. This "Compare Your District" function highlights variations and disparities in federal education finance.
