Washington, DC — The New America Foundation is partnering with the Millennial Trains Project to host the Millennial Ideas Forum on Saturday, Jan. 19 of Inauguration weekend. The day-long, forward-thinking forum will gather a diverse line-up of millennial thought-leaders to explore the question, “What might be the legacy of the millennial generation?”
The Millennial Ideas Forum will take place at M CENTRAL, a special pop-up venue in Washington D.C.'s historic H Street neighborhood created by the Millennial Trains Project, New America and No Kings Collective. M CENTRAL is a basecamp for millennials during Inauguration weekend. Artists, innovators, scholars, entrepreneurs, and public servants will engage in a series of events that celebrate, express, and explore the Inauguration’s official theme of “Faith in America’s Future.”
The Millennial Ideas Forum will feature panel discussions and interactive workshops, as well as a service component where participants will co-create a large community mural. Confirmed panelists include the White House liaison for young Americans, the U.S. Department of State’s special adviser for global youth issues, USAID’s director of policy planning, multiple Forbes "30 under 30" inductees and more than a dozen other impressive young entrepreneurs and innovators. The Millennial Ideas Forum will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free with registration at M CENTRAL.
“In every corner of our country, millennials are pioneering new ideas," said Patrick Dowd, founder and CEO of the Millennial Trains Project. "They are tinkering, disrupting, rethinking and co-creating new ways of doing things. The speakers at this forum are the tip of the iceberg — and they are coming to M CENTRAL because it’s going to be the most accessible and creative space for forward-looking people to connect throughout Inauguration weekend."
Following the forum, M CENTRAL will host the Inaugural Millennial Ball, a celebration of all the future holds for the next Great Generation with performances by Oddisee, the Funk Ark, and Brass Connection, as well as a special DJ set by Mayer Hawthorne. Tickets to the Inaugural Millennial Ball are $75 (open bar) and dress code is creative black tie.
