The New America Foundation this week launched a new Global Innovations Showcase series on CNN.com's Global Public Square (GPS). GPS anchor and international affairs expert Fareed Zakaria announced the new series on air during a special edition of CNN GPS, "Restoring the American Dream: How to Innovate."
The Global Innovation Showcase features a mix of multi-media contributions from anti-poverty pioneers, market trailblazers and tech entrepreneurs, journalists on the ground, and other experts in such fields as technology, health, energy, agriculture, education, finance, governance, and philanthropy.
New America board members Zachary Karabell and Anne-Marie Slaughter contributed essays to kick off the Global Innovation Showcase series and New America Chairman Eric Schmidt spoke with Zakaria on the broadcast special.
Jamie Zimmerman, director of New America's Global Assets Project and the organization's lead on the series, said, "Globalization is rapidly accelerating but at an uneven pace. There are amazing innovations out there, but in many cases, people aren't aware these even exist, much less the impact they can have. We're working to fill that void. So we're very excited to work with CNN on such an important and timely topic."
