Well it’s the most populous of the seven United Arab Emirates; it’s known for its grand hotels and as a tourist destination for the region’s elite. More people visited there last year than they did India. But Dubai is quickly turning into one of the world’s most surprising economic success stories. With us to explain Dubai is Afshin Molavi, Fellow at the New America Foundation. Afshin, you’re just back from Dubai and you’ve--you’ve spent a fair amount of time there. Is this a kind of Potemkin Village where the ruler has built these big buildings or is there a real thriving economy here?
