Tom Emswiler

Former Senior Program Associate, Health Policy Program, New America Foundation

Tom Emswiler was the Senior Program Associate for the Health Policy Program until the summer of 2008, when he left to pursue a master's degree in Health Administration at Virginia Commonwealth University.

While at New America, Mr. Emswiler focused on the Health Policy Program's Medicare Reform Project, which seeks to transform our federal government's largest health care program into one that is both more sustainable and equitable. Additionally, he worked to advance the other goals of the Program, including providing every American with high-quality health coverage and access to care that is effective, efficient and sustainable. Prior to joining New America, Mr. Emswiler served as a Legislative Assistant for Congressman Jim Cooper (D-TN), where he focused on health and budget policy. He received a bachelor's degree in political science from James Madison University.
