As a senior policy analyst with the Economic Growth Program and Next Social Contract Initiative, Lauren Damme specialized in international comparative research to highlight diverse public policy alternatives. She wrote on a variety of economic and social contract topics, including labor standards and rights, wage and employment trends, retirement security and pensions, and broader economic trends.
Lauren also served as a policy advisor with the International Program of Demos, a New York-based think tank, and led the program's research on U.S. bilateral trade agreements and labor standards in developing countries.
Prior to joining New America, Lauren served as a policy analyst with the Local Government Information Unit in London, monitoring and evaluating U.K. social service legislation. She has also served as an evaluation consultant with the U.N. Department of Peacekeeping in New York; published research on IMF taxation policies in Mozambique with the London-based Bretton Woods Project; and served as a consultant with the Local Economic Development and Small Enterprise Development departments of the International Labour Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.
Lauren holds a Master of Science with Distinction in Development Management from the London School of Economics, where she received a distinction for her thesis focused on the politics of altering China's environmental outcomes. She graduated magna cum laude with a business degree from Iowa State University and speaks English and Spanish.
