Faith Smith

Program Associate, The Bernard L. Schwartz Fellows Program, New America Foundation

As Program Associate for the Bernard Schwartz Fellows Program, Faith Smith supports the director in the overall organization of the program as well as providing substantive research for the fellows. Before joining New America, Ms. Smith interned for Amnesty International in Los Angeles. Her interests include human rights, increasing the effectiveness of foreign aid and development programs, and the intersection of foreign policy and society.

Ms. Smith graduated summa cum laude and with college honors from the University of California, Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in International Development. Her regions of specialization were Latin America and the Middle East. Ms. Smith has undertaken several extensive research projects on ethnic conflict, U.S. involvement in Afghanistan, and the role of local media in shaping the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. She is also a regular blogger on The Washington Note.
