Adam Carasso was Research Director for the Fiscal Policy Program at the New America Foundation until April 2008, when he left to join the House Budget Committee as Chief Economist.
Before joining New America, Mr. Carasso worked for the Urban Institute and the Urban-Brookings Tax Policy Center, where he published extensively. Among other projects, he has examined the children’s share of the federal budget relative to other national priorities; proposed reforms of children’s tax benefits, the alternative minimum tax, and homeownership tax deductions; and developed options for public pension reform in Turkmenistan under a U.N. mission. His research has been featured on National Public Radio and in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and the Los Angeles Times. He holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Maryland.
