Intern, Media Policy Initiative (Spring, 2012)

The New America Foundation is seeking enthusiastic unpaid interns to assist the Media Policy Initiative (MPI) at the New America Foundation. The MPI, part of the Foundation’s Open Technology Initiative, is a hub of forward thinking academics, technologists, strategists, policy analysts and journalists. MPI’s work centers on the recently published Knight Commission Report titled: "Informing Communities: Sustaining Democracy in the Digital Age."

Building on the reports' findings, MPI staff will focus on policies to invigorate public media, increase independent public interest reporting, and improve citizen access and engagement with high-quality information.  By tracking and critiquing policy initiatives at the federal level, and innovative media efforts in communities across the country, the initiative will report on both the successes and failures, along with their implications for the Knight Commission's recommendations. We have an immediate opening for a Master's student, GIS-savvy data analysis intern, with the option of working either in D.C. or remotely.
