In Mississippi, a new law threatens to shut down the Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the last abortion provider in the state. If the clinic closes, Mississippi will become the first abortion-free state in the United States. Award-winning filmmaker and photographer Maisie Crow and writer Alissa Quart traveled to Jackson to document the day-to-day lives of its doctors, nurses, patients, protesters and churchgoers—all members of one community in conflict.
Join New America NYC and The Atavist for a short screening of excerpts from The Last Clinic, a multimedia project by Maisie Crow and Alissa Quart. Journalists Irin Carmon and Jasmine Burnett will join them in a discussion about the film and Mississippi's battle over reproductive rights.
