New America NYC: La Frontera: A Photojournalist’s View of the US-Mexican Border
For over a year, documentary photographer Louie Palu traveled along the nearly 2,000-mile border that connects the United States to Mexico, documenting life and death along the way. Turning his lens on violence, organized crime, and drug trade, Palu’s work offers a stark view of the ground conditions on the border.
Join New America NYC for a visual presentation of Palu’s photography and a conversation on the social and political issues facing Mexico — and what they mean for the United States. Palu will also present his unique publication, “Mira Mexico,” a tool to illustrate how images influence or manipulate the understanding of an issue.
