Women will soon be serving in combat roles, yet in today’s military they are more likely to be raped by a fellow soldier than killed by enemy fire. The U.S. Department of Defense estimates there were a staggering 19,000 sex crimes in the military in 2010 alone.
Please join the New America Foundation, The Hill, and Impact Arts and Film Fund for a screening of the Academy Award-nominated documentary film, The Invisible War. Directed by Kirby Dick, this startling, groundbreaking film exposes the widespread occurrence of sexual assault within the U.S. military.
Following the screening, plan to stay for a conversation with the filmmakers, members of Congress, and top military officials about what action can and must be taken to expose and end this invisible war.
