CA Event: Revenue and Taxation Policy in California

The UC Center Sacramento and the New America Foundation would like to invite you to a forum on Revenue and Taxation Policy in California. As California continues to struggle with an overdue budget and record shortfalls, we hope to foster a dynamic, engaging and interactive discussion on how California generates revenue and how we might go forward in tough economic and budgetary times. Our session will feature Kirk J. Stark, Professor of Law at UCLA. Mark Paul, Senior Scholar at the New America Foundation will serve as a discussant and Gary Dymski, Director of the UC Center Sacramento will moderate the session.

Professor Stark teaches Federal Income Taxation, Taxation & Distributive Justice, and Financing State and Local Government. In addition, he serves as faculty coordinator of the UCLA Colloquium on Tax Policy & Public Finance, an interdisciplinary workshop designed to explore leading research on taxation. Professor Stark writes in the areas of tax policy and public finance, and examines the American system of “fiscal federalism” and considers how best to allocate fiscal responsibilities among federal, state and local governments.
