How is Prime Minister Koizumi Doing?

Glen Fukushima leads operations in Japan for Cadence Design Systems, Inc. Before assuming his current position in October 2000, Fukushima was President and Representative Director of Japan operations at Arthur D. Little, Inc., one of the world's premier management consulting firms. Until May 1998, he served as Vice President of AT&T Japan Ltd., the wholly-owned subsidiary of AT&T Corporation. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of AT&T JENS, a leading Internet service provider. Prior to joining AT&T in 1990, he was based in Washington, D.C., as Deputy Assistant United States Trade Representative for Japan and China (1988 - 1990) and Director for Japanese Affairs (1985 - 1988) at the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), Executive Office of the President. Before his government service, he worked in a corporate law practice at a prominent Los Angeles law firm.

Fukushima's publications include Nichi-Bei Keizai Masatsu no Seijigaku [The Politics of U.S.-Japan Economic Friction], which won the 9th Masayoshi Ohira Memorial Prize in 1993. His writings have appeared in The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, International Herald Tribune, Japan Times, Asahi Evening News, Tokyo Business Today, and numerous Japanese-language publications. Fukushima was selected by Tokyo Journal (9/96) as one of the "50 Foreigners in Tokyo Who Make a Difference" and by World Trade Magazine (6/97) as one of the "25 Most Influential U.S. Global Visionaries." In 1999, he received the "Excellence 2000" award from the U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce.
