Religion and Politics
There is no place for religion, in its institutional form, in a truly democratic representational republic, which should be based on people -- actual human beings, not institutions. However, there can be a very important place for spirituality, in its personal form, in influencing the development of human rights by expressing ethics and morality by means of individual activism, not organized, formal, sectarian institutionalism -- which would be unconstitutional religionism, violating the critical separation of religion and state.
