When someone begins work on a degree, it is a long journey--usually at least four years. There SHOULD BE an understanding, a contract if one will, that a student can NOT have the rug pulled out from under him because he says something that the college prez does not like. This is exactly what happened to a relative of mine. The college prez fired the student/employee and IMMEDIATELY barred him from campus. Keep in mind, this is the only person in the history of the campus to be barred! His crime? He suggested competency testing for faculty members! The president admits he was fired for that comment. He admits he was immediately barred from campus. He admits he did nothing else to cause him to be barred. "There oughta be a law!" There should be AUTOMATIC due process--there was not. Obama is looking into this injustice; McCain should do the same. It is totally inexcusable!
