I support the efforts of dedicated activists who are trying to secure collective bargaining rights for part-timers. Unfortunately, however, I have concluded that until this issue comes to the attention of the general public, nothing will happen. In other words, I may have no rights and little influence as a part-time faculty member; however, as a citizen and the parent of future college students, I -- along with millions of others -- have the power to rectify this situation for the good of our students and their hardworking part-time instructors.
