For-profit schools

I am about to begin my junior year at the University of Phoenix. I have received my entire program on-line. In the past, I have attended a ground campus. In both environments I maintain an A average.

I choose on-line because it was flexible. As such, I have been able to work full-time and apply new concepts professionally. The on-line program has been more time-consuming but has the added benefit of being flexible.

An unexpected advantage of this educational experience has been the increase in the quality of my writing (personal and academic) and my ability to research, gather data, determine bias, and locate reputable references electronically.

I am still being teased that I chose to become a student at the University of Phoenix. In my situation, I am not buying my degree from a mill. I challenge any ground campus student to an academic essay face-off in any number of general education subjects.

I hope that I am ahead of the learning curve in this matter. I anticipate more traditional colleges and universities will begin offering the same 24/7 classroom instruction in the future.
