Why Constitutional Convention Must Consider Prop 13

New America senior scholar Mark Paul, writing at Calbuzz, makes a very strong case for making sure that Prop 13 is considered by a constitutional convention.
Given its centrality to governance in California, it's shocking that drafts of the initiative to call the convention specifically keep Prop 13 out of it. And pointless, too. Like putting together a meeting to discuss football but saying you won't mention the passing game.

No Constitutional Convention.....err Coup d'etat
Hopefully if Republicans and Conservatives are smart they will put a counter constitutional convention on the ballot. Hopefully they will put 3 on the ballot and the vote will be split 3 ways and no constitutional convention. Do I sound cynical? HELL YES!! This state legislature wants a coup d'etat of the California voters and should not be trusted. They want to systematically dismantle the initiative process, the process of the voters dissent of their elected leaders. So confuse the voters and let them all fail at all costs. The state legislature has grown to loathe the people they represent. They should not be trusted with any more power.
