Mandatory Impound Initiative

Here's an interesting little piece on a Denver city ballot initiative that would require the police to impound the car of anyone driving without a license. Under a previous ballot initiative, the police already have the power to do so if they like, but this new measure would remove discretion. The initiatives appear to be fueled by anxiety over illegal immigration to Denver, but this seems like a cruel way to attack immigrants.

Why must we force the police to do their job by ballot ?
Yes the police must uphold the law of the land too. They don't want to impound vehicles when people are driving without a license. People must remember when push comes to shove the police are can be just bureaucrats with a gun. Somewhere their union told them not to impound these vehicles when pulling over these vehicles. Unions are in bed with illegal aliens and their activists. Now their discretion must be taken away. We got Presidents, Congressmen, Senators, Governors and who make every excuse and the Media (i.e. "cruel way to attack immigrants") not to enforce the law on illegal aliens. Yes it is somewhat sad to see desperate people have the law applied on them but the law is the law. I hate forking over more tax dollars and don't like the fact that illegals can game America. This game must end. Once they know the law will be applied they will respect our nation and not even try. Taking glee in someone's else downfall is pathetic, however the law must be respected or we are just a flophouse nation.
