Constitutional Convention Initiatives Coming Wednesday

October 23, 2009 - 6:13pm

Repair California has just announced that it will file the two constitutional convention initiatives -- one to change the constitution to permit voters to call a convention directly, the other to call the convention -- next Wednesday in Sacramento.

Constitutional CON-vention?

It begs the question will there be counter constitutional convention petitions. I would suppose this group is liberal and it would be in the best interest for Republicans to stop any coup d'etat at the ballot box. This concept to put anything on the table is code for "repealing all gains conservatives and Republicans have made at the ballot box in sweeping move." The convention will claim Prop 13 is evil, 2/3 votes are evil, Prop 8 is evil, three strikes is evil, anti affirmative action is evil, anti illegal alien legislation is evil, term limits are evil, recalls and direct democracy are evil. It will all be done in the guise of repairing California. The real point is to make us like Illinois, New Jersey or New York where the voter will be snuffed out at the ballot box. I talk to people from states that don't have direct democracy and they wish they could place citizens initiatives on the ballot. As Rod Blagojevich would say "THE FIX IS IN".
