Where Does One Find Latinos in Los Angeles?

One wouldn't think that's not a tough assignment, but the campaign in favor of Prop 4, the California initiative to require parental notification before a minor receives an abortion, has seen fit to give its supporters specific instructions on where to find Latinos. Apparently, Latinos hang out at WalMart and at church.

Below is an actual email from the campaign -- yes, your blogger swears it's real -- urging voters to find Latino voters in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Enjoy.

ATTENTION, ANGELENOS (and ORANGENOS)!

HELP US REACH THIS CRITICAL VOTING BLOC!
Political experts both inside and outside of our campaign agree that Latino voters are critical to the success of Proposition 4.
Polls show that Latino voters favor Prop 4 by an almost 2-to-1 margin - when they know about it. The pollsters credit Latino voters for the lead Prop 4 currently enjoys.
But there are still too many undecided voters - voters that Planned Parenthood is trying to scare into voting no on Election Day.
This week-end gives us one last golden opportunity to reach Latino voters before the election.  Most Latino voters have yet to cast their ballots. We need to guarantee that every Latino voter in the state knows to vote YES on 4. And MOST of those Latino voters live in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

Here's the plan for these last days of the campaign:

First, download Spanish language flyers from www.YESon4.net. These can be easily and inexpensively duplicated.

Second, go to WalMart stores in LA or Orange County and distribute Prop 4 literature.

Third, go to churches. Below are links to lists of Catholic and Evangelical Latino churches or services in Los Angeles counties. Please check for churches near you, or look in the local phone book for others. Contact those churches and ask pastors to speak out about Prop 4. As an alternative, plan on handing out Prop 4 flyers after services.
Gather friends and relatives to help! Forward this e-mail! This is their last chance to make a real difference for Prop 4. Get them out of their La-Z-boy recliners and onto the sidewalks to restore parents' rights and stop child predators!

I don't agree and I'm voting NO

There are many abortions that go without any consequence. My daughters and I have the right to an abortion regardless of our age. Some parents are horrible and is why many youths fall victim to getting attention through sex when they are underage, as their own parents lack giving them love and attention. These parents can be violent or make their daughter have a child they don't want or need. This is about religion and abortion and your morals, but I say abortion is the answer to prevent ruining a youths' life by becoming a parent or carrying a child that is unwanted. I was poor, young and ignorant once and had an abortion. It prevented me, an immature person, from ruining my life of staying in school and getting a higher education. Children take money to raise and having children does NOT improve your standard of living if you are financially unable. Also, I would NOT be so low as to be a burden to the taxpayers, which I am a taxpayer now. I did not have welfare babies nor do I want to support all these welfare babies now. It is NOT the financial obligation of the taxpayers to raise someone else's children. Why do you want to bring unwanted children who can't be raised properly by their own parents when they weren't ready. Again, this is about your religious morals and my rights are MY rights, not yours!
