Our nation faces large long-term fiscal imbalances. In order to reform the budget, there is a need for new approaches to how we raise and spend government funds. The Fiscal Policy Program at the New America Foundation is working to develop new tax proposals. The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget is committed to responsible approaches to budgeting. The Fiscal Policy Program of the New America Foundation and the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget have immediate openings for Policy Analysts.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform analyses of policy proposals, and participate in policy design efforts.
- Track budget data and legislation.
- Write issue briefs, working papers, op-eds, and magazine stories.
- Brief Members of Congress, congressional staff, administration officials, regulators, and other policymakers.
- Assist in pubic education and outreach efforts that focus on opinion leaders and policymakers.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:
- Proven quantitative, analytic, and research skills;
- Demonstrated ability to accurately and concisely summarize complex information to multiple audiences;
- Solid knowledge of and/or experience in fiscal policy;
- Exceptional writing and public speaking skills, especially the ability to communicate policy ideas and legislative proposals concisely and effectively to a diverse range of audiences; and
- A bachelor’s degree in economics, public policy, or related fields is required.
- More senior positions available with more work experience and expertise.
